Secretary of the Department of Education, Skills and Employment Michele Bruniges has had her term in the role extended for another two years. Dr Bruniges was due to finish her five-year term in the role at the start of April, but the government has decided to extend her appointment so she can finish her term as Chair of the Programme for International Student Assessment Governing Board, which is an appointment as part of the Organisation for Economic Coordination and Development. In a statement, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the two-year extension was at the suggestion of Dr Bruniges. “The re-appointment will also allow Dr Bruniges to see through the implementation of the New Employment Services Model – a significant procurement and reform piece for employment services, due to be rolled out from mid-2022 – to which the secretary remains committed,” Mr Morrison said.
