WHAT can a buyer purchase for the median house price in greater Hobart?

Once the capital of affordability, Hobart’s property market boom and continued upward pressure on pricing has made finding great value more of a challenge that it was in the past.

That said, there are some lovely homes available for around the median price.

While some municipalities offer more land than their neighbours, others offer direct access to the delights of the city.

What can you get? Depends on what you value most.

In the latest realestate.com.au data Hobart’s median was sitting at $545,000. So, let’s take a peek at what’s available in the $500,000 to $600,000 range today.

HOBART

No.35 Feltham Street, North Hobart (Petrusma Property)

Price: $585,000-$635,000

Hobart was the trickiest of the council areas to find a fabulous home in the median price range. One can add 14 inner city and surrounding suburbs to the hit list and only come up with nine properties — ouch! This historic 1900s charmer in Feltham Street starts in the price range, but time will tell where it ends. Quite possibly way above it. The position of the cottage, the full renovation, the beautiful tall ceilings, original fireplaces, stone benches and gas cooking.
