For residents who normally have a Friday bin collection, it will take place on Saturday. Normal schedule returns next week. All libraries will be closed over the Easter long weekend, from Good Friday through to Easter Monday. Transport Canberra and Canberra Metro will run on Sunday timetables from Good Friday through to Easter Monday. A link to the timetable can be found here. Double demerit points will apply in the ACT from Thursday 1 April until Monday 5 April. For all speeding, seatbelt, riding without a helmet and mobile phone offences, double the usual demerit points will apply, and as a further long-weekend road safety measure, an additional demerit point applies for all other traffic offences. Canberrans can prepare for beautiful, fine and sunny Easter long weekend, with barely a cloud forecast until Monday. A particularly warm start to April is expected with Good Friday to hit a top of 27 with just a chance of early fog in the morning and a low of 9. Saturday will be much the same and Easter Sunday will welcome a sunny top of 28. Cloud cover will likely return on Monday with a top of 26 forecast. Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Helen Reid said there was a higher chance of Canberrans at the south coast experiencing a shower on Monday.
