What are three essential items in your wardrobe?
A perfectly tailored black blazer, a well-tailored trouser and a white T-shirt in fine jersey.
Who are your favourite designers?
I wear mostly my own brand but I do love Loewe, old Céline – when Phoebe Philo was designing – and Cristóbal Balenciaga for the balloon skirts and modernistic silhouettes.

What’s your favourite fashion era?
I have always enjoyed the drama of 1960s haute couture. I also love the ’90s for its minimalism.
What would you wear …
… on a first date? I’d go simple and do me: jeans, a white tee, blazer and slides.
… on a plane? A Camilla and Marc twin trackset – I like to get a new one for each flight, it’s become a bit of a tradition – with slides.
… to the Oscars? A bespoke gown I’d make myself. Something very different to what I normally wear – maybe white, with cut-outs, probably some lace. That would be so much fun.
Do you have a favourite fragrance?
For my birthday a girlfriend bought me Map of the Heart’s Black Heart v.2. I’d never heard of it, but she absolutely nailed it because I haven’t stopped wearing it. I also adore most of the Byredo fragrances, like the Cotton Poplin candle and the Rose hand cream.
Can you remember a favourite outfit you wore as a child?
In the mid-’90s I was heavily into grunge music, so I was wearing Keppers – low-crotch baggy pants – and a band T-shirt that was invariably faded because I found it at a thrift store. Baby-doll vintage dresses were also in regular rotation – I’d scour the markets for them every weekend. You can probably guess that I was inspired by Courtney Love back then.
And your first fashion moment?
I modelled when I was very young and my first memory of fashion – and knowing that I wanted to grow up and do something in fashion – was being on location for Studio Bambini magazine when I was about 11. I remember swooning over all the fashion the stylist had pulled – it was a highlight of my youth.
What are you coveting?
A super-fine gold chain to wear as a necklace. I have my eye on one by Yvonne Léon.
Is there anything you’d never wear?
Never say never but I can’t see myself in a ’70s patchwork peasant skirt.

What inspires you?
More than people, it’s places and moments in time. For example, last year my family relocated to LA for six months and the architecture, the light and the landscape were really inspiring. Also just being away and not having the comforts of my home environment – there was a huge sense of freedom.
What sort of things do you usually wear on Sunday?
If I have kids’ sport I’ll go for a full head-to-toe sport look, either leggings or bike shorts with a hoodie and sneakers. Or it might be my casual Sunday best look – a denim pencil skirt with a Camilla and Marc “Scott” shirt. That’s for when I’m going to lunch.
Camilla and Marc Resort 2021 is available online and in store now.
