The incident started when two women, both aged 22, allegedly interrupted plain clothes officers who were speaking to a man on Adern St, Coogee around 11.20pm on Saturday.
Police will allege they told the women to move away and warned them about their language before the confrontation turned physical.One of the women, from Beaumont Hills, allegedly pushed a male constable in the chest. She was quickly arrested. The second woman, from Rouse Hill, was in the process of being arrested before she allegedly grabbed and twisted the arm of a female constable. She managed to escape the two officers and ran off.
She wore a long white dress and was eventually caught by uniformed police before screaming “she touched me first, she touched me first”. The tall, blonde female constable was taken to the Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment after allegedly being scratched.Police said she suffered a swollen wrist and scratches to her face and body. The arrest was filmed by a passer-by and the female constable appears to be reaching for her badge to show the woman she is a police officer.
The first woman, from Beaumont Hills, was charged with assault officer in execution of duty and resist officer in execution of duty.She was granted conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on December 2.The second woman, from Rouse Hill, was charged with use offensive language in a public place, assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, and resist officer in execution of duty.She has also been granted conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on December 2.
