ACT Policing will monitor recidivist family violence offenders over a two-day operation to make sure they are compliant with their family violence orders and bail conditions. Police will conduct the operation across Friday and Saturday, working with support agencies, the Domestic Violence Crisis Service, Child and Youth Protection Services and Victims Support ACT. Victim-survivors will be offered support and intervention from the most appropriate agency. It is the third such operation ACT Policing has conducted this year, and ACT Policing family violence unit inspection Sue Smith said this operation would build on awareness from others. “This year, we’ve been working with our partners to find ways to improve our engagement with victim-survivors of family violence to ensure the best outcomes for victims and their families, and all those affected by family violence,” she said. In an emergency, call Triple Zero (000), or for a police response, call the Police Assistance Line on 131 444. The ACT Policing Family Violence Unit can be contacted directly on 02 5126 9114. Or contact the Domestic Violence Crisis Service intervention line on 6280 0900. For faster access to the latest Canberra news, subscribers can download The Canberra Times app for iOS and Android.
