The app was launched on Monday as new NT government contact tracing rules came into place but a delay on day one, blamed on the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States, meant the app was unavailable to iPhone users.

NT Health to launch COVID-19 check-in app to bolster contact tracing
Data obtained by the NT News has revealed 31,700 smartphone users have downloaded the Territory Check-In app since Monday. A total of 27,600 check-ins have been recorded across the NT and 1420 venues have implemented their unique QR code. Of those check-ins, government data shows 55 per cent came from an iPhone and 45 per cent from Android devices. The app uses QR codes to sign people at a long list of venues if they intend to spend more than 15 minutes there.
It’s hoped the app will make it quicker for contact tracers, should the need arise in the NT, to home in on people who were potentially exposed to the virus by being able to immediately access check-in information.Data is stored by NT Health for 28 days and only accessed if required for contact tracing.Originally designed by ACT Health at an initial cost of $110,000, further enhancements to the app have brought the price tag up to $350,000 as of late November. An ACT Health spokesman said the costs associated with undertaking work for the NT government are on a “cost recovery basis only”. Indicative costs to the Northern Territory government for the app are about $180,000“ACT Health may provide the NT with updates, patching, new releases and security assessments. ACT Health will also provide ongoing support services for the duration of the agreement,” the spokesman said.
