A NSW police officer has been charged over the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl in the state’s north.
In September, officers from the professional standards command investigations unit began investigating the officer, attached to the Northern Region, following reports of misconduct.
The 29-year-old Senior Constable was arrested at 8.30am on Tuesday and taken to Lismore Police Station.
He was charged with three counts of aggravated sexual intercourse with a child aged between 14 and 16.
The officer, who is currently suspended without pay, has been refused bail to appear at Lismore Local Court on Wednesday.
Inquiries are continuing.
