whats-on, food-and-wine, bentspoke, sunrise, sunrise quiz, dan raynor, canberra breweries, hottest 100 craft beers
Keen-eyed Sunrise viewers would have spotted a Canberra local doing the weather break trivia quiz on Friday morning. BentSpoke Brewery quality control and education officer Dan Raynor was up nice and early – 4.30am – to take part in the Zoom-facilitated quiz with seven other viewers from around the nation. He did the quiz from the Braddon brewery, keen to promote Canberra and BentSpoke. He even downed Bentspoke’s 3.2 per cent alcohol Easy pale ale before going on air to take the edge off. “I actually had a beer before a coffee so that was a bit weird.” And he just missed out on winning. Dan was in two tie-breakers before going down at the last. As well as trying to answer “How many albums has Taylor Swift released this year?” – which he got wrong, *facepalm* – Dan took the chance to shamelessly plug BentSpoke’s campaign to get Canberrans behind its beers in the world’s biggest beer poll, The Gabs Hottest 100 Craft beers. “Vote 1 Crankshaft!” “I love Canberra and I love BentSpoke too, I had to do it,” he said. “It was a lot of fun.” Sunrise has been using BentSpoke BrewPub as the ACT location for its Zoom trivia since the start of the lockdowns, sometimes with BentSpoke staff and sometimes with other Canberra locals. Dan will also likely be responsible for a mini spike in tourism numbers to the ACT. When not on air, he took his iPad outside and gave his other fellow contestants a virtual tour around Braddon. Cheers to that!
