An elderly man found dead with severe head injuries inside his South Coogee apartment has been identified as Peter McCarthy.
Homicide detectives are treating the Elphinstone Road unit as a murder scene as they investigate the suspicious death of the 77-year-old after officers discovered his body during a welfare check at 11.20am on Sunday.
Peter McCarthy was found dead in a South Coogee apartment on Sunday.
A post-mortem examination showed that Mr McCarthy died from severe head and facial injuries.
Detectives under Strike Force Airy have now released CCTV images showing Mr McCarthy’s last known movements at the York Hotel in Sydney’s CBD, on December 16 between 12.30pm and 2.30pm.
