A 13-year-old girl was home alone in Maylands when a man and woman forced their way inside on December 16.

WA Police said at about 12 noon the pair approached her house on Kelvin Street, possibly pretending to be salespeople or charity workers. After knocking on the door, they forced their way through.

The girl was at home while her mother was at a neighbouring property. She locked herself in a room and contacted her mother, who arrived with another family member a short time later.

Police said the man searched the house and stole several items including jewellery and a handbag.

A family member entered the house and confronted the man inside. The intruder threatened the woman with a metal bar, and demanded keys to a vehicle.

None of the victims were injured.

Mirrabooka Detectives are seeking information about the incident.

Anyone with information regarding this incident, or who saw a man and a woman acting suspiciously in the Kelvin Street and surrounding area, is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report the information online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
