But they would all be well found by the market wouldn’t they, I hear you querying. Not necessarily. The average winning odds of those 27 winners was $4.64, while they return on investment reads a very healthy 56.5%.
It almost seems too easy, doesn’t it?
Of Dunn’s strong team today, maiden galloper Hogan’s Dare looks the pick of them. The four-year-old gelding shouldn’t still be a maiden. He was luckless towards the end of his last preparation before resuming with an eye-catching second first up over this same track and trip a fortnight ago.
The son of Tavistock won’t find a more suitable race to break through, albeit he has drawn wide.
Dunn has the first race stacked with chances, but Courageous profiles as the horse to beat given that he is hard fit now with three runs under his belt and has the ability to put himself on speed.
Later on the card, three-year-old filly Spiritual Boom makes her own luck and she gets in with just 54kg after the claim of stable apprentice Emily Atkinson. Spiritual Boom wouldn’t have to improve much on her last-start third to win this.
Looking at the last – a 1200m benchmark 58 – Le Figaro looks as if she will take holding out. Another win is just around the corner for the consistent mare and, if she can settle a pair or two closer than last start, she can go a couple better.
That’s four on top for Dunn from seven races. Here’s to hoping the run continues.
