With raw 50s across multiple subjects such as English, Specialist Maths and Chemistry, the Mount Scopus student said he was simply hoping for the best and that everything went to plan in the moments leading to viewing his results.
“It’s amazing, I’m thrilled,” Marty said.
“It has certainly been a rollercoaster journey and I’m just really happy that we’ve all got to this point and we can open our ATARs.
“It’s definitely been a crazy ride for all of us and I was lucky to have great support from my school, my teachers and my family.”
Despite being an unprecedented year with COVID-19 and online learning, 2020 was not Marty’s first encounter with virtual schooling, having received a 49 in Algorithmics last year after completing the subject via the Virtual School Victoria program.
Marty said he is interested in pursuing data science and artificial intelligence in the new year but is still “vacillating between a couple of different courses”.
“I’ve got a couple of tough decisions to make in the next couple of days,” he said.
“It’s kind of timely with New Year’s Eve, so we can celebrate tomorrow night.”
