The ACT once again has no active cases of COVID-19 after a previous case recovered from the virus. The news came as the government announced it would extend its hard border restrictions to people from Sydney, the central coast and Wollongong for at least another week. ACT chief health officer Kerryn Coleman said authorities remained concerned about Sydney’s coronavirus cases, specifically a new cluster which has emerged from a bottle shop in western Sydney. “We have been closely monitoring the situation in NSW and what has been unfolding there over the past few days,” Dr Coleman said on Wednesday morning. “The recent Berala cluster in Sydney’s west is particularly concerning and another example of how quickly and easily the virus can spread.” READ MORE The announcement means non-residents who have been in the designated hotspots will continue to be banned from entering the ACT until at least Wednesday, January 12. ACT residents from those areas are allowed to come home, but still need to notify ACT Health of their intention to return via our online declaration form and enter quarantine for 14 days on arrival.
