The ‘Science Guy’ posted the video to TikTok on January 4, one day before the polls opened. “Hello Georgia, Bill Nye here. The last election was the most important election in our lifetime,” he says, before making a signature joke about the Periodic Table. “It turns out, the last election was important but it was only the first half of the most important election of our lifetime. The second half is on Tuesday.” The runoff elections in Georgia will decide which party will hold the majority in the Senate, and features Republican Senator David Perdue facing Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff, and Republican Senator Kelly Loeffler against Democratic candidate Raphael Warnock.
