“Work on the ground is progressing very well and enrolment numbers are strong. We have taken more than 100 applications so far for Year 7, 2022 and inquiries continue to flow,” Dr O’Brien said.Enrolment interviews will start toward the end of February.“Our Cairns-located secondary colleges have long had waiting lists,” Dr O’Brien said. “Newman Catholic College, the first Catholic school in Australia to be co-located within a university precinct, will cater to this need.

Bryant has offices in Brisbane, Cairns, the Gold Coast and Toowoomba with current projects including five Brisbane high schools and a refurbishment of Woree State School to be completed next month.

Meanwhile, MacKillop Catholic College at Mount Peter will receive $11.3m and Endeavour Christian College at Cooktown will receive $300,000 under the State government grants.The school, which has about 500 students across P-7, aims to increase enrolments by 150 students annually until it reaches 1600 students across P-12. Funds were granted on the recommendations of the two non-state schooling sector capital assistance authorities – the Queensland Catholic Capital Assistance Authority and the Queensland independent Schools Block Grant Authority.
