A man has died after being found with stab wounds in Maitland on Saturday.

About 7.20pm on Saturday, police attended a home at Ronald Street, Tenambit where they found a 51-year-old man suffering stab wounds to his stomach.

Despite the efforts of police and paramedics, the man died at the scene.

A 23- year-old woman, who is known to the man, is assisting police with their inquires.
