Multiple severe storm cells dumped significant rain across south-east Queensland on Monday afternoon and evening, after forming inland near Toowoomba and the Darling Downs.

In Alexandra Hills, east of Brisbane, almost 155 millimetres fell between 4.30pm and 7.30pm, including 74 millimetres in a 30-minute period.

Elsewhere, 105 millimetres was recorded at Stewart Road, just south of Beenleigh, in the one hour to 7pm.

Throughout the evening, severe storms warnings encompassed parts of Gympie, as well as the Cherbourg, Redland City, Moreton Bay, Logan, Somerset, Scenic Rim, South Burnett, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane City council areas.
