The Sydney Kings and Brisbane Bullets will also resume their rivalry on Australia Day with the Bullets to their match-up at Nissan Arena then face in-state rivals Cairns Taipans.

“We’re excited to be able to mark Australia Day with a game in Brisbane and schedule the first Sunshine Stoush of NBL21 between the Bullets and the Taipans,” NBL commissioner Jeremy Loeliger said.

“We’re also delighted to be able to play our first game in Victoria this season with the Throwdown between our two Melbourne teams. Bendigo is a great basketball city in regional Victoria and we look forward to playing more games there across the season.

“We will continue to monitor the situation across Australia in the hope we can also schedule games in New South Wales as soon as possible. It was great to see so many fans attend the first round last weekend and we hope venue capacities can continue to build across the season.

“The round went as smoothly as we could have hoped and we witnessed world-class basketball and already this is shaping as another very even and fiercely contested season.”
