West Australian Police have launched a murder investigation after human remains were found in a bin floating in a dam in Perth’s east.
Police were called to Glen Brook Dam, in John Forrest National Park, Hovea, about 12.35pm on Monday after members of the public found a body wrapped in plastic.
Nine News Perth reporter Jerrie Demasi, who was at the scene on Tuesday, said people enjoying a picnic made the grim discovery.
“A group of them noticed an awful smell and spotted the bin … and they actually spotted part of a human limb, either a hand or foot, sticking out the top of the wheelie bin and obviously called police,” she said.
