Sydney Kings injury curse back as star player goes down as Bullets claim victory

Saturday night’s game saw Glover go down with what looked like yet another ACL injury for the 22-year-old. If confirmed, it will be the fourth ACL injury for the youngster.

“We are just having an unfortunate bad run so early in the season,” Kings coach Adam Forde said after the game. “We will do our due diligence and found out what is up with his [Louzada]’s foot and once we get the scans and find out exactly what it is we are working with, we will be able to give more of an educated answer.”

The Kings also had a horrid run with injuries last year with Andrew Bogut, Louzada, Craig Moller and Kevin Lisch out for major chunks of the season.

Brisbane’s first victory of the season added insult to injury as the Kings struggling with their defence all afternoon.

The Sydney side pushed Brisbane and when Casper Ware hit a three-pointer in the final seconds of the first half, the Kings were in touch down at the main break, down 45-47.

But it was in the third quarter where Brisbane crowd of 3406 started to exhaust the Kings, who’s zone defence let them down during a number of moments in the term.

After losing Louzada, the Kings found themselves 10 points down before clawing back to 64-68 heading into the last 15.

The Kings pushed for a final effort before a foul down the stretch gave the Bullets a three-point lead with four seconds left on the clock.

In what felt like a repeat of the Kings’ opening game, Ware (14 points) was given the shot to take the game to overtime but failed to make the basket.

“It’s really important that we don’t just have one or two guys that can bail us out of trouble,” Forde said after the game. “We had our glimpses of brilliance and then we had our moments were we were just outright terrible.”

In some good news for the Kings, new import Jarell Martin once again proved to be an exciting addition for the club with 26 points and 11 rebounds.
