The Bureau of Meteorology recorded 20.2mm of rainfall fell over Geelong Racecourse by 9am, while Aireys Inlet recorded 30.8mm, with 17.8mm falling at Avalon Airport. BOM expects a high chance to thunderstorm with heavy falls to strike again later in the evening across Geelong and the Surf Coast, with easterly 15 to 25 km/h winds.On Thursday, BOM predicted Geelong could possibly receive up to 40mm of rain on Friday.

SES has been called to about dozen jobs in the Geelong area on Friday morning to 10.30am, a spokeswoman said. Water levels of a storm water pond in an estate at Millrace Rd, Highton are being monitored.Calls for assistance including flooding and building damage in Point Lonsdale, Ocean Grove, Belmont, Grovedale, Newtown, Highton, Lovely Banks and Corio.The Kennett River Holiday Park, situated on the Great Ocean Road, was also subject to floods at around 9.45am.A small landslide occurred near Kennett River, the SES spokeswoman said.

More than 1300 customers in Geelong were left without power at around 8am, with the majority of customers restored around 9am.The worst hit areas included Bell Post Hill and Bell Park with the outage occurring at Anakie Road in Lovely Banks. By 10am, 163 customers in Bell Post Hill were still without power, with Powercor estimating it to be restored by 12.30pm today.Powercor listed the cause of the outage as a pollution issue.For storm and flood emergency call VICSES on 132 500.More to come.
