In a statement, NSW Police said officers made inquiries and found the vehicle was unregistered, and that the driver, a 48-year-old woman, had a suspended licence.

The woman was arrested and taken to Prince of Wales Hospital under police guard for treatment of a minor wrist injury. She also underwent mandatory testing.

She was later taken to Maroubra police station and charged with negligent driving, using an unregistered motor vehicle on the road, driving with an unrestrained child under six months, and driving motor vehicle with a suspended licence.

The woman, from nearby Pagewood, was granted conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday, March 3.

Police have completed a child at risk notification to Family and Community Services.
