The 24-year-old told the Tigers he did not do anything to warrant the heavy-handed treatment from police.

Tigers teammate AJ Kepaoa, 21, was also arrested and charged on the night.

Musgrove, whose father Tony is a Maori, has told those close to him next Saturday’s clash against the Indigenous All Stars will mean a lot to his family – and much to him.

Musgrove missed the 2019 season when he was stood down by the NRL after being charged with indecently assaulting a woman he knew on the dance floor at the Coogee Bay Hotel. He was found guilty and given a 12-month good behaviour bond, but last year he successfully appealed to have that decision overturned.

During his time out of the game, he started a job in maintenance at Wests Ashfield and kept fit by training with the Tigers’ NSW Cup team.

Musgrove is tipped for a huge year at the Tigers after injury restricted him to six games last season. St George Illawarra saw enough and made a big-money play for his services, but Musgrove recommited to the Tigers. He is expected to come into the Maori side for Gold Coast forward Kevin Proctor.
