Bernard Tomic’s Australian Open campaign has ended with a second round 6-1, 6-3, 6-2 defeat to Canadian Denis Shapovalov.

The 11th seeded left-hander had far too many weapons for Tomic, who put in a spirited effort early in the second set but as the match progressed appeared sluggish and uninterested.

Former world number 17 Tomic will at least get a rankings boost after getting through an arduous qualifying campaign and then the first round, moving to the cusp of the world’s top 200.

Earlier, another Canadian, Felix Auger-Aliassime, ended James Duckworth’s Australian Open campaign with a 6-4, 6-1, 6-2 second-round romp at Melbourne Park.

More to come.
