Fancy yourself nailing the green from the top right?

Putting greens are becoming more common in Melbourne’s well-heeled backyards – but this Langwarrin South family paradise is a put above.

Darren Crouch built a golf green on top of the ornamental lake he also created at the ultimate fun house that’s been his family home for 21 years.

With the tee about 60m away across the water, it requires some serious skills — or a bit of good old-fashioned luck.

“There’s never been a hole in one. There was one that was damn close, probably within a foot,” Mr Crouch said.

“You really need to nail it straight down from the sky, or it just rolls straight down into the water.”

It’s the cherry on top of the incredible pad he has constantly improved for his wife Ruth and sons Jay, 22, and Toby, 19, since buying the block in an old dairy subdivision 21 years ago.

The entertainers’ dream at 63 Highfield Drive in the outer southeastern ‘burb also includes a pool with a waterslide, floodlit tennis court with spectators’ pavilion, in-ground trampoline and cinema.

The golf tee is just in front of the water tanks.

Like your own private country club.

There’s also a basketball court, sauna, fire pit, sprawling entertaining areas and a barn on the property, which is for private sale priced at $1.9-$2.09m.

While the golf hole is expected to test even the most experienced of fairway-finessing buyers, Mr Crouch, who runs Mr Drains plumbing and created everything on-site himself in his spare time, said it was also just pretty good fun when entertaining family and friends.

He’s now creating another lifestyle pad catered more to his grown-up sons.

Comfortable open-plan living.

“I don’t thing they’ll ever move out, and I don’t want them to go anywhere; that’s why the new house will be more of an adult one, so they can have their own space too,” he said.

Homes & Acreage agent Grant Perry said the four-bedroom, 1.01ha listing had already attracted “stacks of interest” from local buyers and those closer to the city.
