Socceroos great Harry Kewell has been sacked as coach of Oldham Athletic in England’s fourth tier.
The former Liverpool and Leeds star, who was appointed to the role at Oldham just over seven months ago, was dismissed after the side’s draw with League Two strugglers Southend United on Saturday. The result left the Lancashire club in 16th position.

Kewell, 42, said on Twitter he left with no regrets.
“I honestly felt we were making good progress despite the inconsistency at times,” he posted. “I knew coming into this job that I wouldn’t have a budget to work with and that time wouldn’t be on my side.”
