The end of the Smith era is official
It’s all over for the Smith-era Storm but don’t expect them to drop off a cliff. With Harry Grant they might be good or even better with his youth and energy. Alas, he’s not there tonight, Brandon Smith in the nine, and they don’t lose much there either. Keen to see some new faces for Souths, Jai Arrow on debut after the move from the Titans, Benji Marshall a good veteran addition to the bench as well.
Let’s see how the new rules play out
This is going to be fast. I suspect it’s going to be too fast but let’s see how it unfolds. I’m thinking the new rules, mostly the six-again for inside the 10 infringements, will be a big talking point at the end of round one. I think both of these teams are well equipped to handle the changes but expect big runs of possession and some confusing calls from referees.
