A second suspect was in custody Friday in connection with a gruesome knife attack that claimed the lives of three people in a French church as France heightened its security alert amid religious and geopolitical tensions around cartoons mocking the Muslim prophet.
Police allege the attack at Notre Dame Basilica in the French Riviera city of Nice was carried out by Ibrahim Issaoui, a Tunisian man born in 1999 who arrived in France earlier this month via Italy. He was seriously wounded by police and hospitalized in life-threatening condition, authorities said.
