The post went viral and soon he found himself consumed. His group, Alex Makes Meals, has now made and distributed more than 106,000 lunches and dinners, with 60 people donating their time and labour every week.
It now predominantly feeds people experiencing homelessness and international students stranded with no access to federal income support.
Despite starting as a crisis response, Mr Dekker said there were no plans to wind up the organisation.
