Melbourne Storm great Cameron Smith announced on Wednesday that he is retiring from professional rugby league.
The club paid tribute to Smith, who played his entire career at the Storm, for the “immeasurable contribution to our club on and off the field” and a legacy that “will be remembered in Melbourne forever”.
“Cameron Smith has today announced his retirement from professional rugby league. Cam is not only among the most decorated players the game has ever seen, he made an immeasurable contribution to our club on and off the field, and his legacy will be remembered in Melbourne forever,” Storm tweeted.
Smith, widely considered a future Immortal of the NRL, has played 430 games for the Storm, and is the NRL’s games record holder. He is the only player to have played more than 400 NRL matches and holds the record as the highest all-time points scorer in NRL history.
