Lote Tuqiri says it feels like history repeating. Benji Marshall, the ageing household name and premiership winner is shown the door by Wests Tigers before signing a last-minute, cut-price deal with South Sydney.
Tuqiri followed that very script in 2014, and the story ended very well as he and the Rabbitohs won the premiership.

Like Marshall, Tuqiri wanted to finish his NRL career on his own terms. And, Tuqiri says, Marshall, the former Tigers legend who looked like he had been playing at Souths for years after just one training session on Friday, will be a much better buy than he was.
“I actually think Benji has a lot more to offer than me,” Tuqiri told The Sun-Herald. “I think from a mental and personal point of view, he’s still got something to prove. And that’s the reason I came back. I didn’t think I was finished up. The way I finished at the Tigers was not the way I wanted to go out.
