Allycorn, a bright pink unicorn-shaped hot air balloon, will be a special guest at the 2021 Canberra Balloon Spectacular as part of the Enlighten Festival. The New York-based balloon will be flown by pilot Craig Farrell who previously flew Allycorn in Malaysia in February 2020. Allycorn is the creation of brothers Todd and Scott Monahan and was inspired by Scott’s daughter Jade’s love of unicorns. Now in its 36th year, the Canberra Balloon Spectacular will feature 20 balloons. The event will run over nine mornings from March 6 to March 14 at Patrick White Lawns, located between the National Library of Australia and Lake Burley Griffin. Festivities will kick off each morning from 6.15am. Breakfast, supplied by the Belconnen Lions Club, will be available at the spectacular each morning with funds to be donated back into the Canberra community. The event is free however bookings are required due to COVID-19 restrictions. Registrations to view the Canberra Balloon Spectacular from Patrick White Lawns have closed due to demand. However the balloons can be viewed from vantage points across the city on on Canberra Day.
