Canberra Hospital has rolled out smartphones for staff to minimise the risk of COVID-19 cross contamination and infection in the intensive care unit. The Spectralink Versity handsets are designed for the healthcare environment and can withstand hospital-grade cleaning agents, allowing them to be cleaned thoroughly. Patients can use them to communicate with relatives who aren’t able to visit due to COVID-19 restrictions. ACT Health also introduced the devices to streamline staff workflows and the multiple communication platforms at Canberra Hospital. It will roll out more than 2000 devices across the Canberra Hospital and University of Canberra Hospital. ACT Health said staff could use the devices while wearing gloves and without the need to continuously change their personal protective equipment.
