A quick, intense storm rushed through Canberra at 4.20pm on Monday, causing havoc across Canberra. EVO Energy reported a number of power outages across Canberra after the storm, which brought with it wind gusts of up to 90km/h. While people rushed to get their cars undercover, some vehicles could not be saved from falling trees, including one crushed in an incident at Braddon. An even larger tree toppled over elsewhere in the suburb, having succumbed to the wind. ACT emergency services and the SES were called on to respond to a number of other incidents, including fallen powerlines. Canberrans took to social media to share photos and videos of the storm and its aftermath.
