“The investigations are ongoing and I expect more perpetrators will be held to account as a result of that incident.”

It’s believed up to 10 men could have been involved in the attack on the two 15-year-old girls, with the investigation into the assault being spearheaded by the Inala Child Protection Investigation Unit.

The Brisbane Magistrates Court heard on Friday that the girls met some of the men at a nearby train station on the day of the incident, where they allegedly smoked cannabis and drank alcohol, before they went to Karawatha quarry.

There a number of other men arrived, and the girls were taken to the nearby Calamvale District Park where the assaults allegedly took place.

Ms Carroll said she did not believe there was a wider threat to the public from the incident, and that initial investigations suggested the girls knew at least some of the men who allegedly assaulted them.

“I’m certainly not concerned for any other victims at this stage, this was one incident that took place .. [it is] completely unacceptable and absolutely horrific,” she said.

“This is one incidence where a group of men got to know these two young women and obviously things evolved.”

“So this does not involve other members of the public… but unacceptable either way.”

Two men of the group appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Saturday in relation to ongoing investigations by the Inala child protection unit.

A 19-year-old Hillcrest man was charged on Friday with 40 offences including rape, stupefying in order to commit an indictable offence, and assault with intent to commit rape.

He appeared in the brisbane Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody to reappear on Monday.

A 20-year-old Woodridge man also appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday on the same list of charges, and was remanded to reappear on February 22.

Two other men, aged 22 and 21, from Acacia Ridge and Runcorn, have also been charged with 40 offences each and will appear in Richlands Magistrates Court on Monday.
