news, latest-news,

Hidden away under a Chisholm bedroom floor for more than 20 years was a message waiting to be found. “To whoever one day finds this, first of all yes, we are crazy to do this but hey, you’re reading it aren’t you?” In permanent black marker, a 20-year-old “Annie” hurriedly wrote a message for the future owner of her bedroom to find. “I’m writing here, because we’re having the carpet replaced,” she wrote. “Today’s the 10th June 1998. Who knows when/if someone will read this.” It took 22 years, but Shannon and Carleigh Regan from Peppers Flooring found Annie’s message while they renovated the home. They have found plenty of messages before, scrawled on bedroom floors and walls, but found this especially exciting. “Usually, it’s just a name and a date, but nothing like this, which was really cool,” Mr Regan said. The messages were written by Annie, along with an unexplained drawing of Homer Simpson. There was also a message in Armenian, written on that same day in June 1998 when the carpet was replaced. Mr Regan said there was excitement as they uncovered the messages. “It was vinyl that I was pulling up and little by little we saw the messages.” For the Regans, finding old messages like this adds excitement to their day. “There’s nothing better than finding a piece of history.”
