Dylan Alcott has won his seventh consecutive quad wheelchair men’s singles Australian Open title and his 12th grand slam overall, defeating up-and-coming rival Sam Schroder 6-1, 6-0 on Thursday morning.

In doing so, Alcott avenged the loss that Schroder inflicted on him in the 2020 US Open final when his rival from the Netherlands was a wildcard in the tournament.

Not only did Alcott win, he dominated Schroder, letting out a huge “c’mon!” as he took the second set without losing a game, to win the match in just over an hour.

With the trophy presentation taking place on Margaret Court Arena with no crowd except for family and friends (the match was moved from Rod Laver Arena at the end of the fourth set of the Rafael Nadal v Stefanos Tsitsipas match), Alcott said he didn’t mind playing at whatever time he had to.
