Emergency services in Western Sydney are ferrying people and supplies by boat to areas still cut by floodwater and the full extent of the damage is being revealed as river levels recede.
The SES is focused on taking critical supplies to people who are still isolated and helping residents return to their homes in Wilberforce and Freemans Reach by boat.
SES Inspector Rob Cooper said, “anyone that can’t get to the stores to get supplies, to get the medial assistance they need, to get their medications and things like that, that’s some of the main concerns we have to get the stuff to those people across on the Wilberforce side.”
“In the last couple of days, we’ve had a few urgent things some up with some women who were pregnant, getting them across to get the attention that they need”.
The Windsor Bridge is now above water but while structural engineers have given the go ahead for the massive clean-up to begin it could still be days before it reopens to traffic.
