The Renegades have their young bowlers to thank for cutting Adelaide short with young bowling all-rounder Jack Prestwidge (2-20) bowling a tight 19th over, Afghani teenager Noor ‘Norman’ Ahmad showing promise with his left-arm spinners and unheralded leg-spinner Peter Hatzoglou (3-43) claiming dangermen Salt and Jake Weatherald.

Adelaide’s bowling depth showed with Peter Siddle, Rashid Khan (2-24), Daniel Briggs and Agar, what Finch would do to have Agar or Siddle to reduce the pressure on Kane Richardson.

Siddle injured his left (non-bowling) hand after having a ball smashed back at him, after some treatment he played on but dropped Fraser-McGurk soon after adding to his pain.

The Strikers will hope he doesn’t have any lasting damage to his hand.

SURGE MISS
The Strikers were already in control of the game in the 13th over from skipper Alex Carey called for their ‘power surge’.

Renegades captain Aaron Finch saw Carey’s signal and immediately brought up his field to meet the restrictions on outfielders.

But the umpire had missed Carey’s signal, it was noticed three balls in when the other umpire noticed the fielding positions, Carey immediately confirmed the surge and it was signalled.

Carey and Phil Salt were batting so well they took 25 runs from Richardson’s over.

THE MIC IS ALWAYS ON
Kayo Sports viewers received some bonus ‘raw’ commentary after their Big Bash coverage started early.

But special comments men Shane Warne and Andrew Symonds weren’t aware of this as they discussed Australian star Marnus Labuschagne.

Both men raised issues with Labuschagne’s exuberant mannerisms when batting and when leaving the ball. Their comments spread quickly on social media.

“Just f–ken bat properly,” Warne exclaimed before Symonds suggested, perhaps jokingly, that in his era teammates would take matters into their own hands.

“You would have to give him the hog pile if you keep that up,” Symonds said.

A hog pile is supposedly when the whole team piles on a person. Kayo Sports tweeted an apology on Friday night.
