Paige Spiranac says Tiger Woods deserves our sympathy after new revelations about the extent of his cheating.
Tiger Woods has been defended by former golfer and social media sensation Paige Spiranac after a two-part film about Woods’ life called aired this week.
Woods’ reputation took a battering in 2009 when Rachel Uchitel was revealed to be the first of at least 12 mistresses. It led to the collapse of his marriage to Elin Nordegren, who he had two children with.
Woods‘ golf game suffered as a result of the scandal and he was also dropped by a host of sponsors.
Yet Spiranac, who was a professional golfer herself, believes Woods was wrongly treated as “a monster” and thinks he should not be “cancelled”.
Speaking on her podcast, the 27-year-old said: “Even when all this was happening, I think people were being too hard on him.
“You look at your own life and the things you’ve done, no one lives a perfect life, we all make mistakes.
“It’s not like he killed someone, he cheated. A lot of people cheat in their lifetime.
“Probably 99.9 per cent of people have done something bad in their life.
“It’s not for people to sit on their couch and make him out to be a monster when I don’t think anyone could have handled that any better than he has.
“Let’s get rid of cancel culture and help these people, because you don’t know what they are going through.
“I don’t think any of us could handle that spotlight, it’s insane.”
According to family friend Joe Grohman, Woods saw his dad, Earl, have sex with women in a Winnebago RV parked next to golf courses during his childhood practice sessions.
Spiranac believes that had an impact on how his life turned out.
“Of course he is going to have issues growing up in that environment, the fame he had, he’s always been in the spotlight,” she said. “He’s never had a normal life.”
It was Earl’s 2006 death that is identified as the point where Woods’ life started to spiral and he began making regular trips to Las Vegas where he would spend six figures in a weekend on prostitutes and partying.
Tiffany Masters, who was a VIP host in Vegas, tells the film Woods was told: “You’re like a prince and free to do whatever you want.”
Masters described Vegas as a drug Woods kept returning to have a “another hit and another hit”.
Michelle Braun, a former madam who claimed to have been engaged by Woods, said the golf champion had a “particular type”.
“Every couple of months he requested to have multiple girls. It could be up to 10 girls at a time,” she said. “He liked young college cutie, girl next door types, preferably blonde.”
Former escort Loredana Jolie added: “He was into role playing. We would go and get tons of girls and he’d dress into a suit. We were like little puppets.”
