Each week, Sunday Life quizzes a prominent woman about her style and the inspiration behind it. Ahead, contributing editor Georgie Gordon chats to stylist and marketing manager Heleena Trahanas.
How would you describe your style?
Like a chameleon. It’s avant garde, unexpected, contemporary, androgynous, playful, comfortable, creative, fun, artful and kooky.
What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe?
A chunky, oversized cardigan my grandmother knitted for me in the ’80s.
And the most recent addition?
A coloured Marni blouse, a black Bassike jumpsuit and hot-pink Baserange socks.
What would you wear …
… on a first date? Nothing too pretty, feminine or fussy. Something masculine and unexpected, maybe a black pleated Issey Miyake jumpsuit with my rings, Louise Olsen jewellery and Marni flats.
… on a plane? Alex and Trahanas aloe vera-infused linen pants and matching shirt with sneakers.
… to the Oscars? Something weird and wonderful, like a deconstructed Comme des Garcons piece or Moncler Pierpaolo Piccioli’s “Erminia” hooded, down-filled gown.

How many rings do you wear?
Twenty-two and I’ve recently added two more – I don’t know where they’re going to fit! I’ve collected them over many years. Some are from travels to Greece, India, China and New York, others are from Dinosaur Designs and Louise Olsen’s collections. They’re on every single finger and thumb.
Other go-to accessories?
I have a thing for socks – bright red, acid yellow, velvet socks in gold and silver, socks from Issey Miyake, Marni, Missoni. I wear them with sandals and sneakers.
What are the three essential items in your wardrobe?
Marni “Fussbett” sandals in black or tan, a navy linen Alex and Trahanas shirt and my Louise Olsen for Alex and Trahanas “Chifferi” earrings.
