The longest break Kasey Chambers has experienced in her two-decade-long solo career will soon come to an end, with the singer-songwriter set for a for a Melbourne headline show at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on March 14.

The Live at the Bowl program, which kicked off in January and runs until April, has helped revive Melbourne’s cultural heartbeat after the 2020 lockdowns. When Chambers and her band take to the stage, after more than a year off, they’ll dip into some of her most cherished songs, including from debut album The Captain and ARIA award-winning follow-up album Barricades & Brickwalls.

“I’m very excited and you certainly don’t have to twist my arm at the moment to play a gig,” the country music star said. “I already know all the songs we’ll be playing. We’ll go back and play some of those older songs, and I’ve had a lot of time writing over this last year, so we might throw in a couple of new ones, too.”

Following sell-out shows from the likes of Lime Cordiale, and upcoming performances from Archie Roach, Bernard Fanning, Thelma Plum and Ball Park Music, Chambers’ show will be “very intimate, not really a big party gig”.
