A 56-year-old man was walking along Curlew Av at about 11.30am on Saturday, when he was approached by two unknown men.Police have been told one of the men grabbed his shoulder and demanded he hand over his wallet before punching him in the face.He fell to the ground and was continued to be assaulted, while the second man stood nearby.The assault was seen by a passing motorist who stopped to help, as both men fled from the scene.The 56-year-old sustained minor injuries but didn’t require hospital treatment.Port Stephens-Hunter Police are now investigating the assault, appealing to the public for any information on the incident.They’re also urging the male motorist who stopped to help to come forward, as he may be able to assist with police inquiries.Both men are described as being caucasian, aged in their early 30s, between 170-180cm tall, with slim builds and short dark hair.One of the men is also described as having facial stubble and missing a number of teeth.Anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the nearby area or who may have dashcam footage or CCTV is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
