Marina Inundated as Flooding Hits Crete

Dramatic footage from the Greek island of Crete on November 10 showed devastating flooding at a marina in Malia, caused by heavy rain. Local reports said Hersonissos, a town in the north of Crete, was one of the worst-hit areas, with flooding also reported in the nearby areas of Stalis, Analipsi, Agriana, and Gournes. Videos also showed cars being swept away as streets were turned into rivers. The Directorate of Technical Works of the Region of Crete on Tuesday warned residents to limit their movements due to flooding and road blockages. Local media said emergency services had received more than 100 calls for assistance. Credit: Telis Pahigiannakis via Storyful
