“I couldn’t even tell which was the beef and which was the placenta – it was delicious!”

When Ketrina gave birth to her first child Finnley five years ago – she wanted to ingest her placenta in the form of encapsulation pills, but couldn’t afford the cost involved.

So the 27-year-old felt inspired to do her research on how others had cooked and eaten their placenta and decided to do it herself – both after the birth of Finnley and later for her baby boy, Luna, who was born on 28 April 28 in 2020.

She whipped up a chilli with Finnley’s placenta, while with the second, the mum from the UK  got even more creative and chucked the placenta in the form of a burrito, complete with sour cream and shredded cheese.

How mum made a placenta burrito

To make her personalised burrito, Ketrina chopped up the organ and added it to beef, slow-cooking the mixture in a pot.

She then put the ‘meat’ in a plain wrap and topped it with shredded cheese and sour cream.

 “With my first-born, I made chilli and mixed it in with minced beef,” she explained.

“With my second, I slow-cooked it with beef and made a burrito.”

Mum loved flavour of placenta burrito

However, Ketrina is not going to lie – she was somewhat apprehensive the first time around.

“I was a little unsure of what it would taste like, but it was just like really rich irony beef,” she described.

“It was slightly tough in the chilli, which is why I slow cooked it the second time, you couldn’t even tell which was the beef and which was the placenta.”

The young mum-of-two admits to feeling great after having her first baby.

“I had a great recovery with my first, felt energised and was doing everything I was doing before birth very quickly and I felt good in myself.”

“I cooked and ate both of my babies’ placentas”

 However, she admits that she had nothing to compare it until after her second birth.

“I didn’t know whether I felt so good because I had eaten the placenta, so I made the decision to do it again after my second baby and had the same experience,” she said.

“I only had one meal after each birth as I had to freeze it the moment I got home from the hospital, and I had to use it all up once it had defrosted.”

Ketrina recommends that all mothers eat their placenta, insisting that it helped her recover from her birth quicker and boosted her energy levels back up.

“I found lots of benefits including quick recovery, less chance of post-natal depression and an increase in milk production, and I also breastfed both children,” she said.

 “I would highly recommend it, it was an amazing experience and I believe it led to a quick recovery.”

A mum-of-two has revealed how she made chilli and a burrito with her placenta – and says it's great that reality TV star Dani Dyer is planning to ingest hers.

Ketrina Hill, 27, from Cambridgeshire has consumed both of her children’s placentas and claims it has given her immense benefits.

She gave birth to her first child, Finnley, on 17 January 2016, and wanted to ingest his placenta in the form of placenta encapsulation pills, but couldn’t afford the expenses involved.

The mum then researched how others had cooked and eaten their placenta and decided to do it herself – both after the birth of Finnley and later for her baby boy, Luna, who was born on 28 April 2020.

The first time, Ketrina made a chilli with the organ, while with the second, she got even more creative – eating the placenta in the form of a burrito, complete with sour cream and shredded cheese.

Once she returned home from the hospital, Ketrina initially stored the placenta in the freezer and then defrosted it to cook the Mexican-inspired meal.

“I think it's great that Dani Dyer is considering it," she told Jam Press.

"Seeing people in the media having a positive approach to ingesting placenta will help spread knowledge about how good it is.

“I read a lot of research in placenta encapsulation but couldn't afford it so decided to research people who had eaten it instead.
