Members of the Narrabundah Peafowlers will meet with Transport Minister Chris Steel later this month to discuss traffic concerns in the area. This follows reports seven peafowl have been killed in Narrabundah and Red Hill since signs warning motorists to be aware of the colourful birds went up in July 2020. Last month, four peafowl were found dead after cars hit them on Carnegie Crescent and La Perouse Street. Two birds, known as Pedro and Penny to the Narrabundah community, were killed last week within days of each other. A spokesperson from Mr Steel’s office confirmed the minister would meet with the Narrabundah Peafowlers “as is the case with many community groups”. A date for the meeting is yet to be confirmed.
