After nearly two years presenting Afternoons on ABC Radio Canberra, Paula Kruger has accepted a new off-air role developing talent across the entire ABC network. She will still be living in Canberra but developing new talent across the organisation. Georgia Stynes will be replacing Kruger on Afternoons, from January 18. All the other local voices on ABC Radio Canberra remain in the same timeslots for 2021. So next year, Lish Fejer will still present Breakfast, Adam Shirley Mornings, Anna Vidot Drive and Adrienne Francis Saturday Breakfast. ABC Radio Canberra acting editor Julie Doyle said she was sad to see Kruger go but she would be taking on new challenges. “Paula’s taken on a new role in the ABC, in talent management and what that means is she”ll be responsible for developing new talent and nurturing new talent across the whole ABC,” she said. “That’s something she’s really passionate about, about increasing diversity of voices on the ABC. This opportunity came up for her and she really want to do it. I’m really sad to see her go, but it’s an amazing opportunity for her.” Doyle said Georgia Stynes was a great choice for Afternoons. “Georgia’s been a producer here for a long time and a fill-in presenter and a package maker, so she’s really well known to the audience anyway,” she said. “I think she’s the perfect fit for the Afternoons program because she understands the Canberra community and she understands the audience at that time of the day. And she’s really enthusiastic about telling the stories that matter to that audience. So very excited about having Georgia step in.”
