A casual learning support assistant is being investigated by the Professional Standards Unit over allegations of child abuse or misconduct towards children. The staff member was employed at a school in Tuggeranong and was not given any more shifts after the allegations of reportable conduct surfaced last year. An ACT Education Directorate spokeswoman said the investigation was ongoing and the timeline for an outcome was unknown. “Parents were advised of the initial allegations and commencement of an investigation,” she said. “As the investigation is ongoing, no progress updates are able to be provided.” The spokeswoman said impacted students had been offered support.
