A 28-year-old man has been charged with resisting arrest following a car crash in Queanbeyan on Sunday morning. NSW Police say the man failed to stop for a roadside breath test about 4am on Donald Road, Karabar. After accelerating away from officers, police allege the man, who was driving a BMW 330CI, then turned left into Murray Street and crashed it into a tree. Officers approached the damaged vehicle but the driver would not get out and even attempted to drive off, police say. Police tasered the man after trying to forcibly remove him from the car. He was eventually arrested. The man was treated at the scene by paramedics and was taken to Queanbeyan Hospital in a stable condition. He also underwent mandatory testing. He was later taken to the Queanbeyan Police Station and charged with failing to comply with a request or signal to stop a vehicle, and with resisting an officer in execution of their duty. He was granted conditional bail and will appear at the Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday April 12.
